Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour impressed for the Blues in some games last season, and had two big moments where he won the man of the match in victories over Merseyside clubs Liverpool and Everton.
The lockdown came at a wrong time for Gilmour as he didn’t have the opportunity to continue his fine form. Injury then came in, as he was ruled out of action for four months.
Under Thomas Tuchel, Gilmour has hardly had game time, and has featured only in the FA Cup games against Barnsley and Sheffield United, since the German boss was appointed.
Gilmour may miss this summer’s European Championship due to a lack of game time, and former Scotland International Charlie Adam, is hoping to see the 19-year-old feature for the Scots.
Gilmour has been hailed by Charlie Adam as the best technical player for his country, as he uses his intelligence and skills on the ball to dominate play, despite his small frame.
He said on BBC Radio Five Live: “Billy Gilmour is probably the best technical player that we have. The young lad has got everything.
“He can hold the ball. He can play round the corner. He sees things. He sees things quicker than probably anyone in that Scotland squad.
“Because of his height, he needs to use his brain quicker. I hope he can find a way of getting a game between now and the end of the season.
“I would love to see him at the Euros and expressing himself. For me, he is as good as we’ve produced in a long time.”
