According to Spanish media outlet Sport via The Sun, Chelsea and Premier League rivals Manchester United are in a battle to sign Barcelona’s teenage sensation Ilaix Moriba.
The report claims Chelsea made an ‘important offer’ for the teenager in a recent transfer window in the hope of luring the Spanish youth international to West London.
The agent of the 18 year old midfielder is Jonathan Barnett, who represents Gareth Bale among others.
The central midfielder is out of contract at the Nou Camp next year and it is believed new Barcelona president Joan Laporta is keen on extending his contract.
Despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, Moriba is thought to be happy at his boyhood club and keen to sign a new deal.
Moriba joined Barca aged seven from their city rivals Espanyol, and came through their famed La Masia academy alongside Ansu Fati.
He has made five senior appearances for Barcelona this season.
