Ben Chilwell was first-choice at left-back under former boss Frank Lampard but Marcos Alonso has been preferred by new boss Thomas Tuchel.

However, Chilwell has started the last two Premier League games against Manchester United and Liverpool.

“Competition for places is always high at Chelsea and I knew that when I signed for the club,” Ben Chilwell told Chelseafc.com after starting in our win against Liverpool.

“Every position has two or three really strong players competing and that can only be good for the future of the club, having good players pushing one another to be better.

“When you come into the side, you have to take your chance and prove you should be playing and that level of pressure can only be good for the team going forward.”
