Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has questioned Thomas Tuchel’s substitution in the goalless draw against Leeds United on Saturday.

Leeds had held Chelsea to a goalless draw at the Elland Road, and despite starting attacking players like Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz, Chelsea couldn’t find the net in the game.

Tuchel decided to bring on Reece James, Timo Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi for the second half, but the substitution didn’t yield a goal either.

Hudson-Odoi has played more as a wide player under Thomas Tuchel, and Joe Cole believes that the decision to play him as an inside forward was a strange one.

“A few strange decisions from Tuchel today when he was bringing on Callum, and he seemed to play central for part of it,” Cole told BT Sport 1.

Meanwhile, Joe Cole has told the club that they need to get Erling Haaland by all means.

“They need one player for me, Haaland. He’s on the wish-list,” Cole told BT Sport.

“He’s a No.9. There’s so much in this squad, there’s quality in all areas, such a strong squad.

“You just need that one sparkle of magic, that No.9, that focal point and it will change this club getting back to the glory days of challenging for the title regularly.”
