Former Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson has said that he isn’t getting carried away with all the hype surrounding Mason Mount’s performance against low quality opposition.

According to the former Chelsea and England midfielder, Mount gets unnecessary high ratings even when he’s up against low quality opposition.

Mount was in good form in wins over Albania and San Marino, but Hudson doesn’t believe he should get that much plaudits in such games.

“He has bundles of ability, but there is a big difference between the Premier League and international football, just as we’ve found out since 1966 with players disappearing in the big matches,” the former Blues said according to Caught Offside.

“Mason Mount might well go on and win the Premier League, be Footballer of the Year and win the Champions League with Chelsea.

“I listen to these pundits after international matches, however, and they actually insult my intelligence. Nobody ever mentions about the opposition Mount is up against as being vastly inferior individually or as a team.”
