Chelsea’s European stock has dropped in recent years, as the Blues have struggled to get past the round of 16 in the Champions League.
Chelsea recently made giant stride in the Champions League after beating Atletico Madrid home and away to seal a place in the quarter-finals of the competition, for the first time in 7 years.
Chelsea have been drawn to face Porto in the quarter-finals, and many believe that Thomas Tuchel’s side will send the Portuguese team packing.
Interestingly, the last time Chelsea made it to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League, Chelsea ousted Paris Saint-Germain — the former club of current boss Thomas Tuchel.
Only Cesar Azpilicueta is left from that squad. The Spaniard who joined the club in 2012 and was also teammates with former boss Frank Lampard, is now captain of the side and will be hoping to lead the team beyond the quarter-final stage.
Apart from Mateo Kovacic, no current member of the Chelsea squad has won the Champions League, with Thiago Silva being the closest after reaching the final last season.
Thomas Tuchel has turned Chelsea into an unbeatable side, and Blues fans will be hoping for another Champions League success, after the miracle in Munich nearly 9 years ago.
