See the player ratings below

Mendy: Made a couple of good saves to keep Chelsea in front. 8/10

Azpilicueta: Lucky not to have conceded a penalty, after a foul on Yannick Carrasco. Other than that, it was a very strong performance. 7/10

Zouma: Started in the middle of the back three, and he had a very good game as he stood in for Christensen. 8/10

Rudiger: Played on the left side of the back three, and was very solid. Gave no breathing space to Luis Suarez. 9/10

Alonso: Had a good offensive game in the first half against Atletico. Still maintained his good performance and was solid defensively. 8/10

Reece James: Very impressive display, as he held strong the right flank, and pushed forward whenever he needed it. 8/10

Kante: Definitely one of the best players on the pitch against Atletico Madrid. Pressed hard all game and eventually was in top form for Chelsea. His movement with the ball was also impressive. 9/10

Kovacic: Sleek on the ball, and was very good on the ball. Carried the ball from midfield to attack with minimal fuss. Atletico Madrid couldn’t cope with him. 9/10

Ziyech: Scored a fine goal, and was at the right place as he made a fine leap into the box to finish home a Timo Werner cross. Tested Jan Oblak with one fine shot and had some fine moments in the game. 9/10

Kai Havertz: Combined well with his teammates when attacking, and he also did well. Played with intensity in the first half, but his attacking foray was quieter in the second half. But the first half was great. 8/10
