Christian Pulisic has struggled for form this season, and his performance under Thomas Tuchel has been well below his standard.

The American star has looked short of confidence and has been reduced to a bit part role under Tuchel.

However, Pulisic was in fine form as the US team defeated Northern Ireland 2-1 in a friendly fixture on Sunday.

After Giovanni Reyna opened the scoring for USA, Pulisic doubled the lead from the spot but his performance was beyond the goal. It reminded us of what we saw in the second half of last season.

Pulisic has struggled for most part of the season, but looked a different player at Windsor Park. Skills, dribbling, close control, intelligence — Pulisic had it all.

US boss Gregg Berhalter was full of praise for the Chelsea man, and even Pulisic himself admitted that he’s heading back to the club full of confidence.

“It always feels good, of course, to get on the scoresheet. It’s definitely going to help build some confidence,” Pulisic said.

“I’m feeling good, the guys are feeling good as it seemed here. For me personally as well, going back to the club level, I’m excited. I’m feeling confident, as I’ve said. I feel the best I’ve felt in my game, so I’m excited for what’s to come.”
