Chelsea defence have unsurprisingly missed Thiago Silva, and it’s all thanks to Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen.
The veteran Brazilian was Chelsea’s Mr. Reliable in the defence before his ill-fated thigh injury suffered in the first half against Tottenham. He’s yet to feature since then, and he hasn’t been missed for a minute.
Christensen did well in the game against Tottenham. Even when Jose Mourinho’s side piled the pressure in the second-half, the Dane was very comfortable.
The 24-year-old once impressed in this role under Antonio Conte, and he’s back to his best yet again, as he plays in the centre of a back three.
Christensen was excellent at Anfield as Chelsea defence kept another clean sheet, and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was particularly full of praise for the Dane.
“Andreas stepped in during the middle of the first half versus Tottenham which was a tough thing to do, and from the first minute he is absolutely impressive,” praised Tuchel after the win over Liverpool.
“He is brave, strong in individual challenges and very brave and intelligent in our build-up. He plays with a lot of confidence and I am absolutely happy with his performance. How he has stepped up is a big part of our performances.”
