Thiago Silva joined Chelsea as a free agent last summer on a one year deal after the expiration of his PSG contract, with the Blues having the option of extending for another year.
The Brazilian centre-back has impressed since joining Chelsea as a free agent last summer and the Blues have been keen on extending his stay at Stamford Bridge for another season at least.
Negotiations with Silva have been ongoing for some time and an agreement is yet to be reached.
Although Chelsea inserted a 12-month extension option in Silva’s initial deal, it requires both sides to agree in order for it to be activated.
According to Le10Sport, the Brazilian has agreed to extend his deal at Chelsea and will stay at Chelsea until he’s at least 37.
Reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed there’s progress in the move to extend Thiago Silva’s contract and a final decision is expected in the coming days or weeks.
Romano tweeted: “Chelsea are still working to extend Thiago Silva’s contract, waiting for the final decision in the coming days/weeks.”
