This season, the battle for top four will indeed go down the wire, with top clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal currently outside the top four.
Chelsea are in 5th place and are a point behind West Ham in fourth, while Leicester City occupy third place and are four points ahead.
Liverpool are currently 6th in the league and are a point behind Chelsea, which makes Thursday’s meeting at Anfield on a crucial one.
The likes of Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa are still in the race for top four, with games in hand.
However, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger believes Chelsea will pull through and insists that it’s in our hands.
“It depends on us,” Rudiger acknowledged.
“We still have a lot of games to play and also against direct opponents so the battle is still in our own hands.
“What the coach has brought is his way of playing, detailed work and the defensive shape is very good at the moment.
“Our aim is to arrive in the top four. We don’t need to look at Man City at this moment because they are far ahead but with the top four, everything is open.”
