Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has been absent from the team since being subbed out in the game against Tottenham, back in early February.

Thiago Silva was on the bench for the 2-0 win over Everton, as he was set to make a return from injury.

However, speaking ahead of facing Leeds United on Saturday, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Silva won’t be available for the Leeds game as he suffered a setback on the thigh injury he suffered against Tottenham.

“Thiago setback in training at the end of the session the day before yesterday he felt at the end something around the same area he was injured,” Tuchel told a press conference ahead of the Leeds game.

“So we had to take him back to a transition phase but not back in team training so he will be out.”

Andreas Christensen has impressed in the stead of the veteran defender, and the Dane will continue his role in the middle of a back three after his impressive performances over the past month.
