Thomas Tuchel has five centre-backs who can fit in his three at the back system at Chelsea – with the system having turned the Chelsea defence into a rock since his appointment.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen are all competing for five places in the team.
It’s still a mystery that the Chelsea defence have only conceded twice in 11 games in all competitions, and the introduction of Andreas Christensen has also been a good addition to the backline.
Thiago Silva was equally impressive before his injury against Tottenham, and as per Christensen, Chelsea are yet to concede a goal with him at the back under Tuchel.
Many have pondered what will happen when Thiago Silva returns from injury, but Tuchel has insisted that the duo can as well play together.
“They can play together for sure,” explained Tuchel about the Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen incident.
“I’m very sure that Christensen can play on both sides of the back three and they can also play together as centre-backs in a back four as well.
“The position in the middle is the best for Thiago but Andreas is also on the same level and he can also play on both sides so there is no problem.”
