German international Kai Havertz was one of the few players to keep their place in the team for the game against Leeds United.

According to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, he made the decision to start Havertz against Leeds United after his impressive performance against Everton.

“He had an excellent match last match and he was out for some games,” Tuchel said.

“It was impressive because he missed many weeks with injury and when he was able to come back, we had intensive matches and it was not the moment to throw him in.

“I wasn’t sure whether it was the right thing for Evertone even, but we put extra load in training and I was doubting the decision to let him start at Everton and we happy we did because he proved he has the physical capacity.

“That’s why we have started him to keep it going.”

Havertz forced an own goal and won a penalty in the win over Everton but was unable to have the same impact against Leeds United.
