Chelsea have been handed a boost in the race for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after talks over a new contract stalled.
According to Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Donnarumma’s current deal at the San Siro expires this summer, with player and club far apart when it comes to agreeing personal terms.
Despite Edouard Mendy’s excellent form for Chelsea since joining from Rennes last summer, the Blues still remain interested in signing the 22 year old AC Milan goalkeeper.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia believes signing the AC Milan goalkeeper on a free transfer this summer is too good an opportunity to turn down. Thomas Tuchel’s former club PSG are also rumoured to be interested in the goalkeeper.
Donnarumma, currently on £100,000 a week, has been offered an improved wage of £133,000-a-week deal to extend his AC Milan contract.
It is believed Milan are getting increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress in negotiations with Donnarumma.
