Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand didn’t really rate Chelsea high when giving his prediction for who will win the Champions League — surely, no one believed Chelsea would even come this far.
Ahead of the Champions League semi-final games, Rio Ferdinand gave his prediction and tipped last year’s finalist Paris Saint-Germain to win the Champions League, due to their attacking strength. But from what we saw in the first leg, PSG may have already been knocked out of the Champions League, as they now have to score two goals and not concede in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea who were underdogs against Real Madrid, have the advantage heading to the second leg, courtesy of an away goal scored by Christian Pulisic.
For Rio Ferdinand, he may have to predict again.
“I think Paris Saint-Germain will win it,” he predicted on his Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel.
“They have the experience of last season, two strikers, the business end of the season they know what it’s about now.
“They’ve been here together, they’re not fazed and I think they’ll have the experience. Pochettino comes up smelling of roses after a turbulent couple of years.
“I don’t think they’ll care [if he doesn’t win the league]. If he wins the Champions League then he’s outdone everyone because that’s what they are here for.
“Don’t forget, he’s only come in halfway through the season. His fingerprints ain’t all over that league.”
