Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has made a bold claim to declare that former Blues boss Frank Lampard wasn’t ready to manage a big club like Chelsea.
The Chelsea legend had previously managed Championship side Derby County for a year before his appointment to manage Chelsea, but Jorginho believes that it wasn’t enough, and that he lacked the experience to manage Chelsea.
Lampard was eventually sacked in January, and lasted 18 months in charge of the club.
“Look, I’ll be really sincere here on Lampard,” Jorginho told ESPN Brasil.
“I believe, given he was a legend at the club, he skipped some steps necessary for learning before moving to a big club.
“He came to a club where he is a legend, without having experience at other clubs.
“I think he came too soon, skipped a few steps ahead and wasn’t ready for a job at this level, to be honest.”
Chelsea’s form has improved since Tuchel took charge of the club, and the Blues have won 13 of their last 20 games. Tuchel has guided Chelsea to the FA Cup final and semi-final of the Champions League.
