Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante was sorely missed in the 5-2 defeat against West Brom.
Mateo Kovacic seemed to be the only midfielder interested in putting on a show against the Baggies, and the industry of Kante was missed.
Kante has been struggling with a muscle injury for a long time now, and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has spoken of the need to manage his fitness.
With Chelsea set to play Porto in the Champions League quarter-final clash tonight, Tuchel has revealed that Kante is back, but will start on the bench.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the German said: “They are fit enough to be in the squad and will be in the squad.
“Christian went out just before an injury could happen, he said it at half time that if he continued there would be an injury coming so we took him off.
“Tammy is in the squad and N’Golo did a test and will be on the bench. He is comfortable to be on the bench.”
After watching the disastrous display from Jorginho last time out, who should start in place of Kante against Porto?
Tuchel has a number of options in the middle of the park, and it will be interesting to see if he benches Jorginho for another player or give the Italy international another chance to shine.
