Chelsea midfield duo Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are currently out on loan, with Barkley on loan to Aston Villa and Loftus-Cheek on loan to Fulham.
Ross Barkley had started out his Villa career in fine form but has since experienced a dip in form. Reports had claimed that Villa were keen on signing the Chelsea midfielder permanently, but such talks have since died since his dip in form.
In contrast, Ruben Loftus-Cheek started his Fulham loan spell in poor form, but has since made massive improvements as the season went on.
Reports have now claimed that the Villans have their sights set on the current Fulham player rather than Barkley.
Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has told The Transfer Tavern in an exclusive interview that Ross Barkley’s days at the Villans could be numbered, with Villa set to go for Loftus-Cheek.
He told Transfer Tavern: “If they’re certainly going for Loftus-Cheek, I feel [that] rules out Ross Barkley totally. I wouldn’t say he’s burnt his bridges at Villa, but there’s certain things that haven’t gone in his favour.
“When he came in, he started like a house on fire, but you’ve got to maintain that, you know. You’ve got to continue doing it.”
