Malang Sarr is one Chelsea player who won’t be hoping for a Chelsea victory when Porto and Chelsea face each other in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
With new UEFA regulations permitting loan players to play against their parent club, Sarr has been named in the Porto squad to face Chelsea.
Porto boss Sergio Conceicao has named a 25-man strong squad to face Chelsea, and Sarr is part of the squad.
The 22-year-old has impressed in 21 appearances for Porto, and he has admitted that going to Porto on loan was the perfect solution for him.
“I was training with Chelsea before I got loaned,” Sarr told L’Equipe. “The loan was part of the plan.
“I had to be honest with myself, my season ended in March and I wasn’t going to be successful right away with Chelsea.
“It was the perfect solution because I wanted to do a season at a top club like Porto, to be good and then later take a place at Chelsea.”
Former Real Madrid man Pepe and West Ham loanee Felipe Anderson are also set to come up against Chelsea.
