Chelsea star Eden Hazard has hailed the game between Real Madrid and Chelsea as homecoming for him.
Hazard had never featured against Chelsea since leaving the club for Real Madrid in 2019.
Meanwhile, Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur had revealed what Hazard said ahead of the encounter. According to Terreur, Hazard said “I’m coming home” when finding out about drawing Chelsea in the semi final of the Champions League.
“That’s what he told me,” said Terreur to Alex Goldberg on The Byline Podcast this week.
Speaking in 2019, the Belgian admitted that he would love to get the opportunity to go up against his former club in the Champions League.
“Chelsea and especially Chelsea fans will always be special to me and next season I will look for your results first,” he said.
“I hope that we are drawn against each other in the Champions League and every season so we can meet again.”
Hazard eventually came on as a 66th minute sub for Vinicius Jr, and will now return to Stamford Bridge for the first time next week Wednesday.
