Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has explained his decision to leave Tammy Abraham out of Chelsea’s squad for the 1-0 FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City on Saturday.
The 23 year old striker made the bench for the Blues’ last two games – a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace and 1-0 defeat to Porto but there was no place for him in the team against Manchester City.
Speaking ahead of the clash at Wembley, Tuchel suggested Abraham was omitted due to a slight drop in his confidence levels.
“There isn’t much on Tammy but he’s lost a little bit of confidence recently and we’ve taken the hard decision to leave him out,” said Tuchel.
“It was a tough decision but we decided to go with Timo, and with Kai and Oli Giroud from the bench.”
