Chelsea will be away to West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday evening, and it’s a massive tie between two top four hopefuls.
Chelsea are 4th in the league, but are level on points with 5th placed West Ham who have been a surprise package to many this season under David Moyes.
Speaking ahead of the crucial battle against the Hammers, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted that he knows the system of play Moyes’ team will bring to the party, and revealed how Chelsea will counter their tactics.
Tuchel is also glad that the distraction that came with the European Super League is also gone, as his team can now focus to play this game.
The Chelsea manager said in his press conference: “The good news is that we are totally focused on the game with no other subjects around. We clearly expect a tough match. West Ham are a very strong team that rely on solidarity and discipline, which is the basis for a very dangerous counter-attacking side.
“They are relying on their set-pieces, which is a real threat, so the challenge is clear. We want to control the match, reduce ball losses to a minimum, close the spaces very intelligently before counter-attacks can even start and give away as few set-pieces as possible. That’s the plan but there are a lot of things to do so it’s a big challenge.”
