Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel may be without key midfielder Mateo Kovacic for the game against Porto on Tuesday night.

Kovacic has been a key player for the Blues this season, and recent reports now claim that the Croatian international had been handed an injury blow ahead of the game.

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is another worry for the Blues boss ahead of facing Porto. Although the Frenchman is not carrying an injury, Tuchel has admitted that he is concerned he could exacerbate an underlying problem and says he will wait for the results on a late fitness test before deciding whether to risk Kante.

Tuchel said: “It’s difficult to imagine playing a game like this without N’Golo, so I think it is important we do look at him tomorrow before making a decision. We absolutely have to be careful with him.

“I will take a look at him after training tonight and see how he is in the morning before deciding whether he should start or whether he can be used from the bench again.

“The question for tomorrow is whether we want N’Golo to start or do we absolutely want him to finish the game.”

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel may have no other option than to pair Jorginho and Kante in midfield. If kovacic misses this game, his industry in the middle of the park would definitely be missed.
