Thomas Tuchel has lost only one game since his appointment as Chelsea manager in January, and in that time frame, he has guided Chelsea to some massive wins and some very wonderful performances from the team.
Chelsea’s recent 4-1 win over Crystal Palace will surely go down as one of the best displays fans have seen under the German boss.
Tuchel’s Chelsea have a knack for keeping clean sheets but aren’t too known for scoring goals. Before the Palace game, Chelsea hadn’t scored more than two goals in a single game under Tuchel. But the Blues scored for fun in Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace, and the scoreline could have been more.
Despite Chelsea’s dominance against Palace, Tuchel couldn’t say it was the best his team has played this season, as he also rated games against Tottenham, Everton, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid very highly.
“We had very good performances against Tottenham, Everton, Atletico, Liverpool, so I don’t know if this was our best,” Tuchel said after the game.
“I don’t see it like this, but it was a very good performance.
“It always depends on the momentum of the game and the opponent, and we were very strong, very hungry and aggressive, with and without the ball.
“I am happy with the way we played in possession and the positions we found to accelerate the match. I am happy with the defensive performance in the opponents’ half, especially first half.
“We were very strong with ball recoveries, so overall it was a well-deserved win with a strong performance that should improve our self-confidence.”
