West Brom Sam Allardyce has revealed the secret to his team’s 5-2 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
According to Allardyce, he set up West Brom to control Chelsea’s attack and be efficient when they have the ball.
He said: “I think we can be really pleased and satisfied about how the players applied our tactics today. How we set out to control Chelsea’s attack and see what we could do in possession of the ball. We ended up being so good in possession of the ball and the quality of finishing was the best it’s been since I was here.
“People will look to them going down to 10 men but we took full advantage. We were creating chances, I think Silva was lucky to stay on when he pulled Pereira back going through. We had to recover from the goal they scored and we did that brilliantly.
“They [the goals] were all quality, not just the finish but the build-up too, the pass and move. The quality of the one and two touch football we played, it is just a shame we couldn’t share some of that in the other games.
“A little better after three points. Six out of nine I said and now it’s five out of eight but we have stated on trying to get an undefeated run and trying to get more wins in the last eight games than we’ve had all season. This is a good start but it’s a long way to go.”
