Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is extremely proud of the performance of his team, and how far they have come under his watch.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City, Tuchel has revealed that he’s pleased with how the team bounced back from the 5-2 defeat to West Brom to get important wins against Crystal Palace and Porto.

“We are in a good moment,” Tuchel said. “We had a set-back in the home game with the red card and the loss against West Brom but we had an excellent response.

“We had a very tough challenge that we had to face. We had two very good and intensive matches and a big challenge against Porto, with a lot of pressure, with different situations. We arrived in the first leg when everything was open, we arrived in the second leg, we are suddenly the favourites, we have to manage the game, we have to manage the result, we have to manage a lot of influences from outside.

“I was very proud of how we did this, we did absolutely what needed to be done, we deserved a clean sheet and we deserved to win. We conceded a late goal but this did not affect us.”

Chelsea now have a big game against Manchester City this weekend, and the Chelsea boss is optimistic ahead of the game. While Tuchel is hoping for a win, he admits that his team will learn from it they are beaten as well.

He added: “If we manage to beat Manchester City it will be a huge boost. If not we will have to take it as a challenge and opportunity to grow because we have big fights coming up.”
