Real Madrid defeated Premier League champions Liverpool over two legs to seal a place in the Champions League semi final stage.
Chelsea and Real Madrid will now battle each other out in the semifinals, as both teams will be aiming for a place in the final.
Meanwhile, in the game against Liverpool, Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was in fine form for the Los Blancos and made several top saves at Anfield on Wednesday night to help protect his side’s 3-1 first leg advantage.
Speaking after the game, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was full of praise for the 28-year-old goalkeeper, and hailed the former Chelsea goalkeeper as a top class goalkeeper after an impressive display between the posts.
Zidane said: “He’s our goalkeeper and what he’s doing is phenomenal. I’m pleased for him because it’s very important to have a keeper who’s so assured between the posts.
“He’s always given us that. Courtois is doing a great job.”
Meanwhile, having initially struggled following his move from Chelsea to Real Madrid, Courtois has since picked up form and is now back to being one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Chelsea forwards must definitely be at their best against the Belgian if the Blues must make it to the final.
