Ross Barkley’s loan spell at Aston Villa started out well, as he was in fine form for the Villans at the start of the season.
However, the Chelsea loanee’s form started to dip from then on and he never seemed to get back into full stride.
Aston Villa will have to give up their hopes of signing Ross Barkley on a permanent deal, according to Stan Collymore.
According to reports, Chelsea are demanding £40 million to sell him this summer, a figure which ex-Villa attacker Stan Collymore claims is too much.
“No, not unless it was a hugely discounted deal,” Collymore said when asked if his former side should sign Barkley.
“Figures bandied around could be used better elsewhere to develop the squad.”
It’s yet to be seen if Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will want Barkley in the squad for next season. Barkley’s form at Chelsea has blown hot and cold, as he has never really put in consistent performances for the club.
