Timo Werner was on fire as Chelsea defeated Fulham 2-0 to move two points behind Leicester City who are third in the league.
Although Werner didn’t get a goal against Scott Parker’s side, he was brilliant all through the game, and the Fulham defence couldn’t cope with his pace.
Former Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has hailed the quality of the German forward, and he believes that the 25-year-old is underrated.
Cole believes Werner brings a lot to Chelsea’s style of play and is an important part of Thomas Tuchel’s side despite his big misses at times.
“I really think he [Werner] is underrated,” Cole told Sky Sports.
“Yes, he’s missed some big chances and some big opportunities but as a coach and a manager you look at whether players are getting into the right spots.
“The way Thomas Tuchel wants to play and sets the team up, he’s pivotal in that with the way he runs into space and creates space for players like [Mason] Mount.”
