La Liga champions Atletico Madrid exited the Champions League in the first knockout stage at the hands of Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone admits Chelsea were superior to Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the tie at Stamford Bridge.

He also admitted he was happy the team that eliminated Atletico Madrid reached the Champions League final.

“When we lost against Chelsea, the truth was that the first game was equal,” Simeone told ESPN.

“We played in Romania due to Covid, which was an added problem.

“In the second game they were superior and we are happy that the team who eliminated us reached the final. I really like how Chelsea plays. It will be a great game because City has a great team.”
