Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel often likes to rotate his squad for each game in order to keep his players fresh, but he has a big game on his hand when Chelsea visit the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to play Manchester City.
Chelsea are still fighting for a top four finish, and Tuchel understands that the game against the Citizens isn’t a small feat and shouldn’t be taken for granted.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, the German has revealed that he’d make some changes to the team that started against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
“We haven’t totally decided yet,” said Thomas about his tactical plans for Manchester City.
“We have one day less to recover and it’s away game, so we are travelling today and that’s a key factor at this time of the season.
“I imagine we’ll need some fresh legs and fresh minds, guys who want to show they deserve a chance in a big fixture.
“Whether there will be new stuff tactically I don’t know. I haven’t decided yet. I have to look at who is available after training today. There is a high possibility we will see some changes.”
Tuchel could possibly hand starts to Reece James, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Kurt Zouma for this game. It’s not yet clear if he’d trust young Billy Gilmour to feature in this high profile match.
