Liverpool kept their hopes of a top four finish alive in a most dramatic and controversial way, with goalkeeper Alisson scoring a last-gasp header to ensure his side win a vital three points against the Baggies.
West Brom scored the first goal of the game through Robson-Kanu 15 minutes into the game, before Mohamed Salah equalised shortly after the half hour mark.
Drama ensued when West Brom’s Kyle Bartley got on the end of a Semi Ajayi knock-down to lash home for the Baggies. However, he saw his effort ruled out for offside because of the positioning of teammate Matt Phillips.
Phillips was deemed to have been standing in a position that obstructed Alisson’s view, and after a VAR review, the original offside decision stood.
With Liverpool now a point behind Chelsea, Chelsea fans have been left angry with the VAR decision knowing how VAR cancelled out a late Ben Chilwell goal in the FA Cup final against Leicester City.
