According to Daily Express, Chelsea have been handed a major boost in the race to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer.

The Blues are stil linked with a move for the AC Milan goalkeeper despite the impressive performances of Edouard Mendy since joining Chelsea last summer.

Donnarumma has been Milan’s number one goalkeeper since 2015, developing into one of best shot-stoppers in football but he looks set to leave the Italian club this summer after failing to reach an agreement with AC Milan over a new contract.

AC Milan are only willing to offer the goalkeeper a £7million per year contract but Donnarumma reportedly wants £8.6million as well as a commission of £17.2 million for his agent.

Chelsea are reportedly tempted into signing the AC Milan goalkeeper as he would be a free agent this summer.

AC Milan are already preparing for his exit with the Italian club on the verge of completing a £13million deal with Lille for keeper Mike Maignan.
