Nine years ago, a certain Didier Drogba scored the goal that won Chelsea the Champions League, as Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich right in Munich to become champions of Europe.
Didier Drogba was pleased to see his former side beat Real Madrid and book a place in the final, and he tweeted after the game ‘Let’s go… We are going to Istanbul my People’, with loads of blue emojis.
Drogba was also pleased to see both the men and women team reach the final of the Champions League, as Chelsea are the first club to achieve such feat.
For Timo Werner, his wait for a goal from open play in the UEFA Champions League this season came to an end after the win against Real Madrid.
Werner had scored three times from the penalty spot in this season’s competition, in the games against Krasnodar and Rennes (2) in the group stages, and the Germany international finally scored from open play as he netted the first goal of the game.
