Chelsea and a host of top European clubs have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer.

It is believed that Chelsea will go to the market to sign a new striker, with the team lacking a natural goalscorer at the moment.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable season where he has scored 39 goals and created another 12 in 40 games in all competitions.

Haaland’s future at Borussia Dortmund looked pale as the club were at risk of missing out on a Champions League place. However, with Dortmund securing Champions League football next season, the club’s sporting director Michael Zorc has once again stated that Haaland is not for sale this summer.

Speaking to Sky, Zorc simply said: “He will play for us next season.”

Meanwhile, former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch believes that Chelsea do not really need a striker this summer, but a top centre-back.

Asked what Chelsea need to do to close the gap on Manchester City next season, Crouch told Daily Mail: “If Chelsea can get a top-class central defender, one out of the highest bracket, that would put them in with a huge chance next season.

“Thomas Tuchel took over a really good squad but it is still behind City at the minute, for all the progress they have made.

“I cannot wait to see the next steps Tuchel and Chelsea make because I have been bowled over by the impact he has made. I’m so impressed and nobody in Europe would want to play them in their current form.”
