The stats never really favour Timo Werner as he didn’t get on the scoresheet again in the 2-1 victory over Leicester City, even though he won the penalty that Jorginho converted for Chelsea’s second goal.
His pace, work rate, energy and die-hard attitude have made him a difficult player to face, but his lack of goals have also made him the toast of pundits and football analysts.
Werner has often been slated for his missed chances and lack of goals, but Owen Hargreaves is one of those who believe he has done enough to merit credit from fans.
“I think he’s done better than people say,” the ex-Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich star told Optus Sport.
“The numbers aren’t there like they were in Germany but he’s had a productive season in terms of six goals and eight assists and that’s just the Premier League.
“That’s pretty good for a player for their first year in the Premier League.”
