According to Arsenal legend Ian Wright, Chelsea striker Timo Werner will be an unbelievable player for the club next season.
Werner has endured a mixed first campaign at Stamford Bridge, scoring 12 goals and making nine assists for the Blues but also missing a number of chances in front of goal.
The German international scored the opener in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
“Next season might be different for him,” Wright said on The Kelly and Wrighty Show.
“We saw at Leipzig, he scored 29 goals in one season, so he can do it and go on that kind of run.
“The chances he’s been missing, he should be taking those with the calibre of striker he is. But he’s still trying to do the right things.
“We’ve seen it before with strikers just missing chances and the confidence goes. You have to still get into the right positions and he is.
“Some of the chances he’s missed have been really easy chances. Next season he probably won’t do that. You see what he does for the team in terms of his pace and assists, it’s invaluable.
“So when he does have the goals, he’s going to be unbelievable for Chelsea.”
The former Arsenal and England star added: “Chelsea do have a history of having strikers that it just doesn’t happen for, for whatever reason.
“He came as a guy who was going to score goals for them. Liverpool were courting him as well.
“But he hasn’t stopped creating or running and his teammates know they can rely on him because he still puts in the hard yards.”
