Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante was the man of the match in both games between Chelsea and Real Madrid.

In the second leg at Stamford Bridge, Kante put in an extraordinary performance as Chelsea defeated Real Madrid 2-0.

Kante wasn’t just winning balls in the middle of the park, he was also going forward and beating men, and laying on some good passes.

Manchester United legend Andy Cole was just too bemused with the performance of the Frenchman and referred to his performance as a joke.

Cole told Optus Sport: “He’s a joke. Seriously, he’s a joke. Watching Chelsea last night, both the goals have come from him breaking play up and slipping someone in.

“People didn’t think he could do that but I think he’s proven he can do all that now. He’s in the right position because he’s cute enough to be in the right position.

“He’s a top player and I don’t think he’s given the credit that he should be given.

“In the first game against Real he was man of the match and, for me, last evening I thought he was man of the match as well.

“I know people will talk about Mount and players like that but Kante last night was top, top drawer.”

Cole also hailed the character of the Frenchman as he wasn’t too keen on celebrating the first goal by Timo Werner.

“He just wants to play football and do the best he can do for his team,” he added.

“He’s not into the razzmatazz of the modern day game, everyone seems to be into the razzmatazz, but if you look at him he puts his performances on the football pitch.

“He didn’t even celebrate the first goal and he set it up. You’ve just gone 1-0 up in the Champions League semi-final and he’s not even celebrating.

“He knows the game is just getting started.”
