Chelsea have a Champions League final date with Manchester City at the Estadio do Dragao, and the two English teams will look to revive their rivalry in Porto.
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has revealed that if Chelsea want to win the game, then the team must learn to take their chances.
The Gunners legend named Timo Werner as the most important player for Chelsea in the Champions League final. According to Merson, if Werner is at his best against City then he would cause them lots of problems.
Paul Merson told Sky Sports: “I have to say Timo Werner, and I say that as his biggest critic.
“If he gets it right on the day and makes the right decisions, Man City are in trouble because he will cause you a lot of problems.
“However, we’ve seen it too many times over the last eight to nine months, he doesn’t make the right decisions consistently enough.
“If he’d have made the right decisions at Wembley against Leicester, Chelsea would have won the FA Cup before half-time. So, for those reasons he is the most important player on Saturday.
“I could have said Thiago Silva because you have to be so sharp in defence with Man City. You can’t switch off for a second. You’ve got to be aware and you’ve got to be organised, but I am going with Werner because on his day, he can hurt you.
“Both N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy are also musts for the game on Saturday. It’s good news for Chelsea that they are on course to play. They are two of the first names on the teamsheet alongside Mason Mount.”
