Chelsea hold the advantage heading to the second leg of the Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid.

Chelsea scored an away goal in the 1-1 draw at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Tuesday, and a goalless draw will be enough for Chelsea to make it to the final of the Champions League.

Paul Merson has now revealed that Chelsea could be made to rue Timo Werner’s miss in the first leg, as he fired a tame effort straight at the goalkeeper when faced with Thibaut Courtois.

“Chelsea were just head and shoulders above Real and could have finished it then and there,” Merson wrote in his Daily Star column.

“You just hope they don’t end up regretting Timo Werner’s miss, because it WAS a shocking miss, NOT a great save by the keeper.

“Sergio Ramos will probably be back for the second leg and he makes a big difference, so can’t count Madrid out. But I hope Chelsea make it.”
