Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is attracting massive interest from many top clubs, with Chelsea and Barcelona believed to be the two clubs interested in signing the Argentine the most.
Aguero is the highest scoring foreigner in the history of the Premier League, but he’d be a free agent at the end of the season, as he didn’t renew his contract with the club.
Aguero has scored 258 goals in 388 games for Manchester City, and BBC Sport’s reporter Guillem Balague has revealed that Barcelona has already started talks with the 32-year-old.
“It’s not done yet but everybody wants it to happen,” said Balague.
“The club and Aguero’s camp are talking.
“They know they have to cut costs and are doing four different independent audits to see how much money there is, which then means they will know what kind of contract proposal they can put to Lionel Messi.
“But amid that backdrop they are looking for opportunities in the market. Aguero is free and would be an improvement on Martin Braithwaite. They have to sell a lot of players and they will try to do so but this would mean they have the certainty of a goalscorer.”
Aguero will be a free signing for any club that decides to sign him, and it’s yet to be seen if Chelsea will be keen enough to tempt him to Stamford Bridge.
