Chelsea sealed a top four finish at the end, and it was not a pleasant situation as the Blues were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
Chelsea could have finished third in the league, but couldn’t beat Villa, and had to depend on Tottenham getting a victory over Leicester City to make a top four finish.
Chelsea now have Manchester City to face in the Champions League final on Saturday, and with Chelsea’s recent drop in form, Thomas Tuchel has admitted that the team must learn from their mistakes ahead of facing the English champions.
He said: “It was the story of the season. We needed many clean sheets to overcome this lack of composure and precision.
“We conceded two goals from set-pieces out of nothing and made it hard to come back, but we even then we had enough chances to come back.
“We are still a young team and we try to improve them and make them learn from every game. We need to adjust details and we need to be spot on on Saturday if we are to have a positive outcome.”
