Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has been left perplexed at the decision for Chelsea’s game against Leicester City to be played on Tuesday rather than on Wednesday.
The two teams played in the FA Cup final on Saturday and will face each other three days later in the Premier League.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted that it’s a strange decision knowing that the final game of the season is on Sunday, meaning they could have fixed the game on Wednesday to give the teams enough time to recover.
“We never understood this and we said before that we could not understand because both teams are involved and it would have been easier for both teams to have had a Wednesday game because the next game is Sunday,” Tuchel said.
“There is absolutely no reason to play Saturday, Tuesday, Sunday. It is absolutely logical to play the game on Wednesday. From a sporting side nobody can disagree.
“But, OK, we cannot wish for another date to play so we will be ready tomorrow.”
Brendan Rodgers was also unhappy with the decision and believes that it favours Chelsea because Tuchel has a larger squad.
