Timo Werner scored the opener as Chelsea beat Real Madrid 2-0 on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

According to Werner, the only thing Chelsea failed to do against Real Madrid was score the second goal early in the game.

The Blues created lots of chances against Real Madrid, especially in the second half, but failed to convert until Mason Mount slid in a Christian Pulisic pass late in the game.

“The chances we created, most of them at the beginning of the second half, were very good,” Werner said.

“Maybe the only thing you can say against us was that we could have decided the game earlier in the second half.

“But in the end it’s not easy to play against Real Madrid and we did very well, it was a really deserved win for us.”
