Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has hailed the work done by Thomas Tuchel so far, as he has helped transform Chelsea’s season.

The Blues were in mid-table and looked out of sorts at the time former boss Frank Lampard was sacked, but things took an instant turn for the better once Tuchel took charge.

He led Chelsea to the final of the FA Cup and Champions League and also sealed a top four finish.

Chelsea will end the season without a trophy if they are beaten by City in the Champions League final, but Kovacic insists it will be tagged a good season for Chelsea no matter what happens in the final.

According to Kovacic, Tuchel has done a good job, and it will be termed as a good season and not a perfect season if Chelsea fail to lift the trophy.

“He came in and from the first minute the players felt a great connection with him,” said the Chelsea midfielder.

“From the first meeting and the first game it was like he’d been here for two years, so everything came quite naturally and we approached his way of playing well, we understood each other from the day he came.

“He did a good job and we had a great season in the end, because we came to the Champions League final, reached the FA Cup final, got top four. So it’s a good season, but not perfect because we need to win a trophy.”
