Frank Lampard got the job of his life as he jumped from being the manager of Derby County to managing Chelsea after just a year in charge of the Championship club.
Lampard was eventually sacked 18 months into his spell as Chelsea manager, and it was a decision that made him feel hurt.
Is there any hope for Lampard to return to the Chelsea hotseat in future? The Blues legend doesn’t really see that happening.
He told Jamie Redknapp in an interview with Sportsmail: “I don’t know and I don’t see that right now. That’s too far down the road, Jamie.
“I want to manage a huge club again and I want to manage it to success. Everyone knows how I feel about Chelsea and that will never change. But there may be other opportunities along the way, another pathway, so we’ll see.”
Lampard has had offers to manage since leaving Chelsea but has turned them down. He has now revealed that he’s raring to go again.
He said in the interview: “What I wake up with every day is: ‘I want to work again.’ I love the idea of trying to improve individuals or a squad.
“I’ve become addicted to that. The minute I stepped into Derby to this minute now, it’s something I feel compelled to do.”
