Chelsea have confirmed that Thomas Tuchel has been given a contract extension, after a successful start at Chelsea upon his appointment in January.

Tuchel was given an initial 18-month deal in January to replace Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge, but after winning the Champions League, the club has deemed it fit to keep him on for two extra years.

Chelsea released a statement, thus: “Chelsea Football Club is very happy to confirm that, following our triumph in the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel’s contract has been extended by two years, as agreed when he joined the Club.”

Tuchel guided Chelsea to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League during the 2020/21 season and also reached the FA Cup final, before going on to win the Champions League.

Tuchel is expected to be at the club until 2024.
