Chelsea are the champions of Europe, and the Blues were in incredible form over the course of the past campaign under Thomas Tuchel, as the German led Chelsea to win the Champions League against all odds.
The 2021-22 season is expected to be a tough one as the League’s big teams will aim to chase champions Manchester City.
Manchester City won the league with 86 points, and were 12 points ahead of Manchester United on 74. Chelsea meanwhile finished in 4th with 67 points.
Former Manchester United star Luke Chadwick believes it will be difficult to catch Manchester City if they sign Jack Grealish and Harry Kane, and he even backed Manchester United to finish above Chelsea next season, despite Chelsea’s massive improvement under Thomas Tuchel, with the Blues going on to win the Champions League.
Chadwick told CaughtOffside: “Tuchel’s come in and done a fantastic job tactically, particularly against Pep Guardiola, showing he perhaps has the upper-hand over him. I think United and Chelsea will be the closest to City next season, maybe Liverpool too, but I’d like to think United have it in them to do better than Chelsea next season and get close to City, maybe even finish above them.
“But a lot of that depends on the recruitment in the summer months. Seeing Aston Villa sign Emi Buendia, it makes you wonder if that means Grealish could be off to City. If they signed him and Kane then they’ll be incredibly hard to catch next season.”
