Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is closing in on Thierry Henry’s record as he scored a brace in an international friendly to close in on Henry’s record as France’s all-time leading scorer.

The 34-year-old Chelsea striker came off the bench for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to net a brace as France defeated Bulgaria 3-0 in their final warm-up game ahead of Euro 2020.

Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring for Les Bleus in the 3-0 rout, but Giroud came on just before half time for the injured Karim Benzema.

Giroud would go on to score two goals late in the game to extend the scores and also move to 5 goals away from matching Henry’s record.

N’Golo Kante started the game for France but lasted only 65 minutes before being subbed off, while Kurt Zouma was an unused substitute.

France kick-off their Euro 2020 campaign on Tuesday when they face Germany in Munich in what promises to be a massive encounter.
